Care That’s Considerate of You

Dr. Justin Villafane and Kelly Villafane, MS, L-CCC-SLP, COM

Custom Restorations

Your crown will be made with you in mind. Factors Dr. Justin Villafane considers when designing crowns include your age, your degree of wear, and if you grind your teeth. We typically use 100% zirconia or IPS e.max® due to their durability and lifelike aesthetics.

Implant-Supported Crowns

While traditional crowns can restore a broken tooth or improve its appearance, a crown can also be paired with a dental implant to replace a single missing tooth. Dr. Villafane can place implants in his on-site surgical center.

A Streamlined
Approach to Crowns

In addition to crowns, we offer a suite of general, cosmetic, and restorative services, so you can always get the care you need.

Consultation

You’ll first meet with Dr. Villafane in our Lincoln dental office so he can determine if you’re a candidate for a crown. If you are, you can move forward with treatment.

Preparatory Work

If you’re receiving a traditional crown, Dr. Villafane will remove the decayed or damaged tissue from your tooth and make room for the crown. If you’re receiving an implant-supported crown, you’ll have to undergo implant placement surgery and complete the healing period first.

Impressions

Dr. Villafane will take digital impressions of your dental arch. These will aid in the fabrication of your custom crown, ensuring it’s comfortable and blends in seamlessly with your smile.

Dental Lab

We’ll send your impressions to a trusted dental lab where technicians will create your crown. Most single crowns are returned to us in about two weeks. If your crown is for a larger case, like a full-arch reconstruction plan, it could take as long as four to six weeks.

Placement

Once we’ve received your crown from the lab, you can come in for your final appointment. Our Lincoln dentist will remove your temporary crown and check the fit and function of your permanent crown before cementing the crown in place.

FAQ About Crowns

How do I take care of my crown?

You can care for a traditional or implant-supported crown the same way you care for natural teeth: brush twice a day, floss once a day, and attend routine dental checkups. Good oral hygiene and routine checkups can prolong the lifespan of your porcelain crown, allowing it to last 10-15 years or longer.

Can crowns help with TMD?

If the cause of your TMD is an improper bite, crowns can restore balance by changing how your teeth come together. Likewise, a poor-fitting crown could contribute to TMD. Dr. Villafane is trained to diagnose and treat TMD, so he takes this into consideration when crafting crowns, dental bridges, and other restorations.

Have Another Question?

“Personable
and friendly.”

“I had a great experience at Floss Dentistry when getting my crown. Nobody has fun getting prepped for a crown, but these guys made me as comfortable as possible! They were so personable and friendly, and let me know every step of the way what they were doing. I highly recommend checking them out! They are wonderful and make you feel like family!”
